It takes an immense effort to find and extract in huge blocks the million years old stone in the quarries of the world. The variety of marble called Bianco Carrara is mined in Italy, Nero Marquina is mined in Spain and Bursa Black is mined in Turkey. The blocks are then cut into slabs with special saws, before they are turned into the desired forms. The bright finish of the surface is achieved through many stages of continual polishing.
